Proud to Be Shortlisted for Training Provider/Initiative of the Year at the ECN Awards

We are incredibly proud to announce that Renew Elec Training has been shortlisted for Training Provider/Initiative of the Year at the ECN Awards. To be recognised by the electrical industry in this way is a huge milestone for us, and one that reflects not only the quality of our training, but the values, culture, and community we have worked hard to build.

This shortlisting means so much because it recognises training providers who are doing something different — creating meaningful impact, improving access to learning, and raising standards across the industry. As a female-owned electrical training academy focused on inclusivity, adult learners, and real-world understanding, this acknowledgement feels especially powerful.

A Culture of Inclusivity in Electrical Training

At the heart of Renew Elec Training is a strong belief that electrical education should be accessible, inclusive, and learner-led. The electrical industry has traditionally been seen as rigid, male-dominated, and academically intimidating — particularly for adult learners who may not have enjoyed traditional college-based learning environments.

We actively work to change that.

Our training centre is built around a culture of inclusivity, where learners are supported as individuals, not judged by their past experiences with education. Many of our learners are adults returning to training later in life, career changers, or electricians who felt let down by previous classroom experiences. We recognise that people learn in different ways — and that confidence, clarity, and encouragement are just as important as technical knowledge.

Small class sizes, approachable tutors, and a supportive learning atmosphere allow learners to ask questions freely, revisit topics without pressure, and truly understand the regulations and principles behind their work.

Supporting Adult Learners Who Learn Differently

One of the reasons this ECN Awards shortlisting means so much to us is because it reflects our commitment to adult learners.

Not everyone thrives in a traditional college setting. Some learners struggle with fast-paced lectures, others need concepts explained more than once, and many simply need the freedom to learn at their own pace. We believe that needing extra time or explanation is not a weakness — it’s part of real learning.

Our approach is practical, relatable, and experience-driven. We explain why things work, not just what the regulation says. Learners are encouraged to rewatch content, ask questions repeatedly, and build understanding gradually — without embarrassment or pressure.

This learner-centred philosophy is a core reason our training resonates with so many electricians across the UK.

Our Origin Story: From TikTok to Training Centre

The journey that led to this ECN Awards shortlisting started in an unexpected place — TikTok.

What began as a small channel sharing free electrical education content was originally created to support apprentices who were missing college lessons or struggling to understand complex topics. The content was intentionally short, clear, and learner-led, allowing people to pause, rewind, and rewatch explanations as many times as they needed.

There were no paywalls, no gatekeeping, and no judgement — just accessible electrical knowledge, shared openly.

Very quickly, the audience grew beyond apprentices. Qualified electricians, adult learners, career changers, and even non-electricians began engaging with the content. The feedback was consistent: “This finally makes sense”, “I wish my college explained it like this”, and “Being able to rewatch has helped me more than any classroom.”

That response shaped everything that followed.

The TikTok channel grew into a wider online learning community, expanded onto other platforms, and ultimately led to the creation of Renew Elec Training — a physical training centre built on the same principles of accessibility, inclusivity, and learner confidence.

Today, that same learner-led ethos runs through everything we do, from our 18th Edition courses to inspection and testing, CPD, and short courses.

Recognition That Reflects Our Values

Being shortlisted for Training Provider/Initiative of the Year is not just recognition of course delivery — it’s recognition of a training initiative that challenges traditional norms.

It reflects:

  • Our commitment to inclusive electrical training

  • Our support for adult learners and non-traditional routes into education

  • Our use of free, accessible online learning to raise standards across the industry

  • Our role as women in STEM leading change within electrical training

This shortlisting validates the idea that training can be rigorous and supportive, professional and human, structured and flexible.

Thank You to Our Community

None of this would be possible without our learners, online community, and supporters who engage with our content, attend our courses, and believe in what we are building.

Whether you discovered us through TikTok, attended a course at our training centre, or simply rewatched a video that finally made something click — thank you.

We are incredibly proud to stand alongside other nominees at the ECN Awards and to represent a modern, inclusive approach to electrical training.

We look forward to continuing to support learners, raise confidence, and improve understanding across the industry — whatever the outcome.
