I’ve always believed that learning should feel achievable, enjoyable, and relevant to the real world. For me, teaching isn’t just about helping someone pass an exam — it’s about giving people the confidence to believe in themselves, especially those who may have written themselves off too young or never enjoyed traditional education.
With over 10 years’ experience teaching in the electrical industry, I take pride in creating a relaxed, supportive learning environment where every question is welcome and every learner matters. I bring my years of on-site experience into the classroom, linking the regulations to the real-life situations electricians face every day.
Through our social media channels, we’ve been able to reach thousands of learners from all walks of life, and the positive feedback we’ve received means the world to me. That encouragement pushed me to finally convince Sam that we should start our own training centre — and here we are, looking to the future with excitement and determination to keep raising the bar for electrical training.
With nearly three decades of experience in the electrical industry, I’ve built a career rooted in resilience, passion, and a commitment to raising standards in training and education.
I began my journey in 1996 as an apprentice and earned my ECS Gold Card as an Approved Electrician in 2000. As a woman working on building sites, I faced the usual challenges—but I’ve always met them head-on. My career has taken me through a wide range of roles, including estimator, operations manager, sole trader, and apprenticeship manager.
In 2008, I discovered a new passion: teaching. Working with self-funded adult learners at a private training provider sparked a deep commitment to sharing my knowledge and experience. Over the past 15 years, I’ve combined hands-on electrical work with roles in assessing, internal quality assurance (IQA), and teaching. In 2019, I completed my Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET), returning to private training after a period in further education.
At the end of 2022, I made a bold move—leaving my role as Apprenticeship Operations Manager to start a new chapter. That chapter is Renew Elec Training, where I now serve as Director alongside my business partner, Alex Tranter. Together, we work with a variety of training providers, offering high-quality, contract-based services that aim to elevate the standard of delivery across the sector.
At Renew Elec Training, our mission is simple: to empower learners and educators alike by delivering training that’s practical, inclusive, and built on real-world experience
